Common questions
Which law governs a commercial contract with a Cyprus company?
The parties can usually choose the governing law. Cyprus contract law is based on English common law principles, which many international counterparties find familiar. The choice should be made together with the choice of courts or arbitration.
When should a commercial contract be reviewed?
Before signing, and again when the business changes: new markets, new pricing, a change of control or a counterparty in difficulty. Many disputes arise from contracts that no longer reflect how the parties actually work.
