Can a foreign judgment be enforced in Cyprus?
Judgments from EU member states are generally recognised under the EU rules on jurisdiction and judgments. Judgments from other countries may be enforced under bilateral treaties or Cyprus law, depending on the country. Arbitral awards can be enforced under the New York Convention, to which Cyprus is a party.
Is mediation available for commercial disputes in Cyprus?
Yes. Mediation of civil and commercial disputes is available in Cyprus and is often faster and less costly than court proceedings. Whether it suits a case depends on the parties and what is at stake.
